William Deal Obituary, Death Cause – At his home on Saturday, September 16, 2023, William V. “Bill” Deal, 88, of Scottsburg, Indiana, departed from this life. On November 10, 1934, he was born in Austin, Indiana, to Walter and Eliazbeth (Riley) Deal, who have now passed away. He belonged to Scottsburg Moose Lodge #2324, Kimberlin Creek Baptist Church, and Cummins Engine Company, where he retired. In addition to being an avid supporter of Indiana University basketball, Bill loved fishing, gardening, and building new things.
He wed Marilyn Sue (Brough) Deal on May 20, 1978; she passed away before him in 2016. His wife, parents, sister Betty Hayes, and stepson Mike Stewart all passed away before him. His son Wesley Deal of Scottsburg, Indiana, his two daughters Beverley Ramey of Peru, Indiana, Melody Neal of Scottsburg, Indiana, his two stepdaughters Cindy Scott of Salem, Indiana, and Vickie Curtsinger of Charlestown, Indiana, along with one brother Bobby (Barbara) Deal, fourteen grandchildren—Wes (Erin) Deal, Paige (Chris) Barham, Kelsey (Richard) Easterlin, Kameron (Jillian) day, Kerrigan Neal, Johnna (Zach) Landwehr, Madison (Mayson) Harp,
Kenny (Bree) Scott, Kaden Scott, Chassity Curtsinger (Mike), Wakey Jr. Curtsinger, Gerald (Cisley) Curtsinger, nine great grandchildren—Eleanor Easterlin, Caroline Easterlin, Ciaran Deal, Cillian Deal, Keagon Scott, Kimber Scott, Andrew Staniford, Samantha Lanham, Mayci Bammerlin, and Atlas Landwehr—as well as four great-great grandchildren. Rev. Timothy Mohon will preside over funeral services on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Collins Funeral Home will be open for visitation on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. burial in Indiana’s Kimberlin Creek Cemetery. Family asks for donations to We Care as a memorial.
