In August 2021, Zoë Kravitz became legally single again, after her petition for divorce from her husband was officially granted. She had been married for just over two years to fellow actor Karl Glusman, although most of that time was actually spent separated.

The pair first announced their separation in late 2020, when Kravitz filed for divorce after only less than one and a half years of being married. Neither of them made an immediate comment about the split at the time, although the actress would later speak up just before their divorce was finalized.

'Separations, break-ups are sad but are beautiful things too. It’s about the bitter-sweetness, that beginning and that end," Kravitz told AnOther magazine in September. 'It’s so complex, that space, when you’re in between heartbroken and mourning the loss of something and excited for what’s ahead of you."

The Big Little Lies star has of course grown up in the limelight, being the daughter of famous parents Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet. She, however, managed to deal with her break-up rather discreetly, only speaking out after the process was complete.

In a February 2022 interview, she insisted that she - and not Glusman - was responsible for the divorce.

How Did Zoë Kravitz And Karl Glusman Meet?

According to reports, Zoë Kravitz first crossed paths with Karl Glusman at a bar in 2016. The first hint of their relationship came in October that year, when they went out dining with Taylor Swift, Cara Delevingne, Dakota Johnson, among others. Afterwards, they were spotted holding hands, and the rumors of their flirtation were officially born.

The actress explained the awkwardness of their first meeting in an interview with Vogue UK in 2019. She revealed that it was in fact a mutual friend who introduced the pair to one another.

"My friend knew that I wanted to meet someone – not even to get serious, I think just to get laid, to be completely honest with you – and he brought Karl," Kravitz said. "I instantly felt something – then he turned around and started talking to the blonde girl next to him, and I was like, ‘Wait, what?’. But he later told me that he was just nervous."

Glusman all but confirmed their relationship only weeks after that, when he started posting photos of the pair of them on his Instagram page.

Karl Glusman's Acting Career

Karl Glusman is only one year older than Zoë Kravitz. They also started their acting careers at just around the same time. Kravitz's first screen roles were in the films No Reservations and The Brave Ones, both from 2007.

Glusman got his big screen career started the following year, in a film titled The Iconographer. He then featured in a number of short films in the years that followed. 2015 was a significant year in his career, as he appeared in a total of four feature films, including Ratter, Stonewall and Embers.

Most notably, he also starred in director Gaspar Noé's erotic drama film, Love. The movie became controversial for featuring unsimulated, and mostly unchoreographed sex scenes. It also fell short with critics, who felt that it was 'undeveloped' and 'least compelling.'

Glusman returned to more conventional pictures in 2016, when he starred in The Neon Demon and Tom Ford's Nocturnal Animals alongside the likes of Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal. His other credits include Tom Hanks' Greyhounds and the French film, Lux Æterna.

Why Did Zoë Kravitz Divorce Karl Glusman?

Zoë Kravitz spoke extensively to Elle Magazine in March this year, where she delved into the details of her split from Karl Glusman. It was here that she explained that it was her own personal journey that led to their separation, and not any mistake that the actor himself had made.

"Karl’s an incredible human being," Kravitz insisted. "It really is less about him and more about me learning how to ask myself questions about who I am and still learning who I am, and that being okay. That’s the journey I’m on right now."

The California-born actress will turn 34 this year. But despite having gotten divorced from Glusman, she explained that she does not feel any pressure to have a family, and will only do it on her own terms.

"This idea of like, you’re 30. You’re a grown-up. Now you’re supposed to have kids and stop having fun... I bought that for a second," she said. "But I still want to go on adventures, have fun nights, and see the sunrise."

Kravitz is currently dating her colleague from The LEGO Batman Movie, Channing Tatum.
