Since the television network HGTV and its Canadian counterpart debuted, they have created a long list of stars but many of them have come and gone. On the other hand, there are a handful of HGTV stars that the network has completely embraced. For example, since the Property Brothers have become two of HGTV’s biggest stars, they have made a fortune.

Just like the Property Brothers, Scott McGillivray has become a huge part of HGTV’s roster of hosts. While Scott’s co-stars are important too since his friend Debra Salmoni is a big part of Vacation House Rules’ success, he definitely has a lot of fans. For that reason, there is a lot of interest in Scott’s vacation house including things like where it exists and how much it costs to rent.
Where Is Scott McGillivray’s Vacation House?
Over the years, Scott McGillivray has hosted a long list of shows including Income Property, Moving the McGillivrays, Renovations Resort, and Vacation House Rules. Mostly due to all of Scott McGillivray’s television work, the talented host and handyman has accumulated a $4 million fortune according to celebritynetworth.com. With that in mind, a lot of people may be surprised that on top of being a TV star, McGillivray really has gone to the trouble of renovating a vacation house that his fans can stay in.
Of course, just because Scott McGillivray has opened a vacation house that his fans can rent out doesn’t mean that it is practical for most of the people who watch his shows to stay there. After all, McGillivray has enough fans that finding a day where his vacation house isn’t fully occupied could easily be a challenge. On top of that, once McGillivray’s fans book his vacation house, they would have to make their way to where it is located.
Thanks to an HGTV.ca article about Scott McGillivray’s efforts to transform a typical home into a “family home with infinite income potential”, it is known that it is located in central Ontario in the Kawartha Lakes municipality. Of course, most people have never heard of Kawartha Lakes so it is worth noting that it is located northeast of Toronto.
How Much Does It Cost To Rent Scott McGillivray’s Vacation House?
On top of having to make their way to the middle of the Canadian province of Ontario, anyone who wants to stay at Scott McGillivray’s vacation house has another issue to deal with. After all, since McGillivray is somewhat rich and famous, it wouldn’t be overly surprising if he charged a fortune for his fans to rent his vacation house.

In the same HGTV.ca article that revealed the location of Scott McGillivray’s vacation house, it was written that it costs $850 a day to rent it out. As of the time of this writing, that figure seems up to date since the aforementioned article was published in April of 2022. However, it is worth noting that inflation has been out of control in recent months so the price of renting the vacation house may go up sometime very soon.
Of course, a lot of Scott McGillivray’s fans won’t be able to afford $850 to rent a property for a day but for those that can, it seems like it would be a wonderful experience. On the other hand, if fans are looking to experience something that brings them closer to the show without spending that kind of money, there is another option. After all, Scott and his co-stars have renovated lots of vacation homes since the show began and some of them are available to rent.
A perfect example of a vacation house that was renovated on the show that can be rented is one that was seen during the show’s sixth episode from its first season. Owned by Laura and Dale, the home can be rented out on Airbnb. While some people may be reluctant to rent a house from Airbnb due to some of the horror stories that are out there, in this case, it seems safe to say they have nothing to worry about. After all, Laura and Dale’s vacation house has 67 reviews on Airbnb’s website and it has earned an average rating of 4.95 stars out of 5. On top of looking at its average rating, it is worth noting that the home’s reviews say things like it is “even nicer than the photos” and it is a “perfect getaway”.
