Courteney Cox and David Arquette met like a lot of people do: at work. In 1996, the actors were cast in the slasher film "Scream," providing not only heightened recognition for both, but also the set on which they fell in love, as Cox said on "Good Morning America" in 2011. In a 2009 interview (via Digital Spy), Arquette said he fell for Cox fast after meeting her at a party before filming began. But, aside from some flirting, she seemed uninterested. He had to work hard to land a date. However, Cox admitted she was "intimated" by Arquette. "He has lived many, many lives I think. He is a worldly boy. He has done more things in his young years than I have in my whole life," she said.
The "Scream" films continued to mark milestones throughout their relationship. As Cox joked on "Good Morning America," they "fell in love on the first," "hated each other on the second," and married shortly before the third, which came out in 2000. "Scream 2" was released in December 1997, less than a year before Arquette asked Cox to marry him, according to People. The hating-each-other phase couldn't have lasted long. "Scream" marked another point in their relationship when the fourth installment came out in 2011, a year after they separated. In the "GMA" interview that year, Cox joked about the coincidence. "Oh yeah. He's on Howard [Stern] right now."
