Toshiba will unveil its first Chromebook at CES 2014, a picture taken at the Las Vegas trade show reveals (above).
9to5Google has posted an image taken at Toshiba’s display, which clearly reveals that a “Chromebook for everyday” is coming. However, actual details about the device or devices running Chrome OS have not been revealed.
The publication did find a Toshiba Chromebook review that was posted online on Christmas Eve and pulled thereafter.
According to that review, Toshiba will have a $279 Chromebook in stores that will feature a 13.3-inch display with 1366 x 768 resolution, Intel Celeron 2955U (Haswell), 16GB of storage, 100GB of free Google Drive storage, two USB 3.0 ports, SD card reader, full-size HDMI port, 802.11 n Wi-Fi and Chrome OS under the hood. The device is reportedly just 0.8-inches thick and weighs around 3 pounds. As for the design, the laptop is said to be in line with other Toshiba offerings:
The lid of this model features a subtle texture, a stippled pattern that provides some visual distinction from other inexpensive Chromebooks. The body of the laptop and the trackpad both feature Toshiba’s distinctive U-shape with rounded top corners, in keeping with its current design ID across the brand.
