Howard Stern absolutely loves it when his staffers fight. And he's smart to know that his fans feel the same way. While Howard is known for being one of the greatest celebrity interviewers, his SiriusXM show is more than just deep-dives into the psychology of A-list talent. In the old days, it was about the controversy and challenging the censors. It's not like that anymore, much to the chagrin of some of his older fans. The one thing that has remained consistent, however, and bridges the gap between old fans and new ones, is the staff constantly goofing on each other.

Fans go crazy when Howard's well-paid staffers are at each other's throats. Most of the time, it's just extremely harsh goofing for the sake of entertainment. But there have been times when things have escalated beyond Howard's control. While Howard, celebrity guests, and even the Wack Pack have been involved with many of the best Stern Show fights, this list is all about the brutal battles between the staffers themselves...

13 JD Cancels Ronnie 'The Limo Driver's Car Show In 2009

JD and Ronnie may be besties today, but back in 2009, the 'mush-mouth' was The Limo Driver's worst enemy. Their biggest fight was sparked after Howard gave JD the power to cancel his car show; the one JD called "the most boring-est" on SiriusXM.

12 Robin Thinks Gary "Filibusters Day In And Day Out" In 2002

By no means do all the best Stern Show fights belong to the boys. Robin has been involved in her fair share, and as Gary has said, she is one of the most cutting. He experienced this firsthand in 2002. The two of them immediately started screaming at each other after Robin accused Gary of never shutting up... Was she wrong?

11 Fred Doesn't Want To Get Marriage Advice From Robin In 1996

Once again, Robin makes an appearance on this list in conflict with Fred. It started out with Howard, Jackie Martling, and Robin playfully making observations about Fred's strange activities and then escalated into a conversation about his marriage life. This was something Fred absolutely wouldn't take, least of all from Robin. "She doesn't know what love is," Fred said not long after he went after Robin for her weight.

10 Artie Lange And Gary Dell'Abate's "Lying"/"Check" Fight In 2008

Former co-host Artie Lange admits that his later years on The Stern Show were plagued by his addiction. This meant that he was at the epicenter of some of the most ferocious staff fights. One of his best was when he opened Gary's paycheck and reportedly shared his salary with the staff. The argument eventually shifted into Artie lying about going to therapy and a very hurt Gary basically predicting Artie's near-tragic fate on The Stern Show.

9 When Scott DePace Shared Footage Of Gary Sleeping During The Show In 2010

Gary falling asleep during The Howard Stern Show is one of the most iconic moments of all time. While Gary admits to his mistake and "happily" took punches from Howard, he was furious at Howard TV director Scott DePace for filming him without his permission. Of course, this is far from the only time Gary and Scott have battled, although most of the time it was about their opposite political opinions and producer Jason Kaplan got in there too.

8 Memet Walker And Brent Hatley's I.Q. Feud In 2018

"I think he's a narcissistic sociopath with the personality of Ted Bundy," former staffer Brent said about Memet after he adopted a notably arrogant personality for the radio. While the two were basically at each other's throats for a year, it memorably culminated in an I.Q. test that Memet won and wickedly rubbed in Brent's face.

7 Robin Clashes With Stuttering John About The Heineken Trip In 2003

Fans on Reddit believe this was the angriest Robin ever got on The Stern Show. Given how easily former staffer Stuttering John pushed buttons, this makes sense. But an argument about who got sent on a trip abroad sponsored by Heineken Beer became so personal and so vicious that Robin even threatened to defecate in his mouth.

6 Sal Governale Shoots Silly String At Gary And Wears The Monkey Mask In 2006

There's no shortage of Gary vs. Sal events on The Stern Show. Even to this day, the two are always goofing on each other. But things got physical after Howard berated Gary after he misplaced something and Sal decided to pile on. It started with him wearing the monkey mask and running into his office and escalated when he shot silly string into Gary's face. Eventually, Gary had enough and pinned Sal down with his office chair.

5 Artie Vs. Sal And Richard In 2007

After Sal and Richard demanded more respect from Artie for their contributions to the show and their stand-up gig, the three engaged in a long-running all-out war. This consisted of some periods where they traded the vilest, most evil insults ever uttered on The Stern Show, others where they wouldn't even speak to each other, and once where Artie got physical with Sal and angrily threw a CD at his face.

4 Artie And High Pitch Mike's On-Going Feud In 2007

2007 was a brutal year in terms of Artie fights. There's no doubt that his ongoing feud with High Pitch Mike was one of his most famous. Artie loved to pick on High Pitch as he struggled to come out of the closet and High Pitch love to pick on Artie for his addiction issues. At one point, things got so heated that Artie threatened to beat up High Pitch Mike. A few months later, the two made up and High Pitch Mike even privately came out to Artie.

3 Artie's Complete Break Down And Attack On Teddy In 2008

Artie's violent blow-up at his assistant Teddy over a money disagreement was anything but funny. It even caused Artie to briefly resign from the show. But it deserves a place on this list as it's easily one of the most memorable and brutal fights.

2 Tracy Millman VS. Grillo And The "Top-Shelf Liquor" In 2007

Former office manager Tracy Millman LOVED to fight Benji Bronk, but it's her all-out battle with former intern Steve Grillo that's her most famous conflict. Tracy tried to take her interns out to a bar where Grillo promised to have them all covered with "top-shelf liquor". Only, Steve ended up sticking her with an absolutely massive bill. Tracy's response is easily one of the best dressing-downs of all time. And Artie's impression of her going after Grillo is absurdly funny.

1 Artie Goofs On Gary For His Terrible First Pitch In 2009

Gary's terrible first pitch at a baseball game has gone down as perhaps the worst Ba Ba Booey moment of all time. It's lived on in infamy for a number of reasons, but mostly because of Artie's non-stop berating which caused Gary to get extremely upset. While nearly everyone has picked on Gary for his nonsensical pitch (including sports announcers in 2021), Artie's insults hit closest to home.
