The most beautiful states in U.S.?

I think Washington, California and Utah

Arizona, Western Colorado, Utah, Western Montana....

We've had these threads before, the western states (rightly) dominate.

California, Alaska, Utah, Colorado. They have the most incredible landscapes to be found in America.

Alabama is pretty and so is Pennsylvania. The Appalachians are much prettier than the Rockies which are all barren and over run with jackalopes

California. Beaches, mountains, deserts and everything in between all in one state.

Alabama? Really, really? And I am from Louisiana.

Anyway - what about New Mexico- it feels so spiritual out there.

Most of you have never been to New Mexico I take it?

Wisconsin is the prettiest midwestern state, Georgia is the prettiest southern state, Montana prettiest western state, New Mexico prettiest southwestern state and Washington prettiest West Coast state. For East Coast, that'd be Maine.

Maine is still pretty, and so is Vermont. NH trashed their fucking state.

Parts of Virginia are gorgeous, specifically the Shenandoah Valley along the I-81 corridor from Winchester to Roanoke.

Alaska, Hawaii, Utah, Wyoming.

US really is gorgeous. There may be no world-class historical sites in the whole country, but it more than makes up for that with all the gorgeous and variable landscapes. That's what makes Cheetolini's plans to shrink many national parks even sadder.

Michigan doesn't have shit to see.

Maine, California, Vermont, Alaska.

Pretty much agree with OP, but I'd also add Oregon. I love the Pacific Northwest. Admittedly, I don't know the eastern part of the country nearly as well.

Hawaii. The unique dry landscape of all Arizona and New Mexico. Colorado and all the Western coast from Cali all the way to Alaska.

People might think Nevada is all dried and barren, but that is far from the truth. Nevada has spectacular scenery too.

Vermont, Alaska, Hawaii. California has plenty of ugly (the central Valley, most of the LA Basin), Ditto Washington (the western 2/3 of the state). West Virginia has tremendous natural beauty. Pennsylvania is underestimated but still not a candidate for most beautiful.

Maine, Alaska, South Dakota, and as someone said Alabama.

A lot of people have a distorted view of South Dakota. They think it's this barren wasteland. It has something for everyone. Prairie(for someone who grew up in a mountainous area it is really something to see), rivers, mountains, waterfalls, wineries, Custer state park, the Badlands, it goes on and on. It rakes in huge amount of tourists dollars every year from people who know what it is truly like. North Dakota on the other hand....

The Badlands should be on everyone's must see list before you die. It's like being on another planet.

Northeastern Minnesota has it glories as well. Both the Boundary Waters and the Lake Superior north shore are breathtaking in spots.

I am sure you could find several beautiful spots in every state.

Virginia is a really beautiful state, I even inherited 55 acres right in the Shenandoah Valley. It's just a long commute from Chicago to Virginia.

Colorado. It’s truly beautiful.

Last year I did the most to visit only blue economies as a token of my loyalty to the Blues. I visited New Mexico several times, a state that votes Blue but it's actually a poor state, so it needs all those tourist dollars it can get.

However, I want to visit Illinois, Minnesota, and Virginia this year but I know next to nothing about those state (appart from their bigger cities of course). What are some good places to visit on those state fellow Dlers?

R22, and don't forget that is all FRESH water. I go there every summer for eight weeks to escape the flaming temps of the desert, and 1-1/2 weeks around the tail end of winter to do the final week of skiing before the snow melts at Boyne Highlands.

Illinois is not a very interesting state to visit, outside of Chicago and the lakefront there is just not that much to see..... and most of its flat.

The Boundary Waters and the the North Shore would be my top choices for MN as well, but the St. Croix and Mississippi River valleys have some some pretty bluffs as well.

That list seems pretty accurate r38. I love the east coast, I live on the east coast and I don't want to change that, but the western United States is far more majestic.

Agree with R51. I think NY doesn't get it's due because everyone associates it with the city. It's an extremely beautiful state with a variety of landscapes and very rural. Adirondacks, Catskils/Hudson Valley, Long Island shore, Finger lakes, Thousand Islands, Niagara Falls, Lake Ontario, Lake Champlain. It's pretty amazing.
