Tell Me That You Love Me, Junie Moon

I watched this film last night (it's now on Blu-ray). Great performances by Liza Minnelli, Ken Howard and Robert Moore as three misfits who live together and forge a bond. James Coco has a nice supporting turn as does the fabulous Kay Thompson.

Surprisingly sympathetic portrayal of gay man played by Moore, although that goes to shit in the last third when Moore's character hooks up with a woman (even though he's been pining for the hot beach boy played by Fred Williamson who was hot as hell but is now a Trump supporter).

Anyone seen this? Thoughts?

r2 yes, this was one of his first film roles. I wonder what he thinks of it nowadays.

Ken Howard was gorgeous in this.

It seems longer than a 2-hour or so film—densely packed with a lot of story, characters, dialogue and story. And that vacation scene was not supposed to be Key West actually, since they referred while driving there to being on our Boston area’s Rt. 128–where the resort and beaches end in palm trees (?). An interesting film peculiarity I’d heard of yet never seen, and glad that I got a chance to for the first time this evening.

It's going to be on TCM and I'm recording it. It was a bit of a flop, right, when it first came out? Of course many good films were. I'm looking forward to it.

It's part of TCM's "Body Image" series. Now we have Miss Crawford in "A Woman's Face." Next up: "Looking for Mr. Goodbar" and "The Enchanted Cottage."

The novel by Marjorie Kellogg is a good, fast read. She was a social worker who based the characters in "Junie Moon" on some of her clients. Robert Moore died of AIDS in 1984.
