Michael Malczewski Obituary, Death – An investigation is currently underway into a fatal collision that occurred on Holloway Road in Holland on Thursday morning. The collision involved an Amtrak train and a vehicle. The collision occurred just north of Airport Highway. Michael Malczewski, 38, of Toledo, was driving a 2017 Honda Civic south on Holloway Road when he reached the train tracks at approximately seven o’clock in the morning, as reported by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
According to the authorities, the gates were down, and there was a train that had stopped on the tracks that were located distant from the crossroads. It was at this moment that Malczewski drove around the gates, and his vehicle was struck by an Amtrak train that was moving west on the other set of tracks. In the vicinity of Wentworth Road, the train came to a stop, and the Honda Civic stayed on the rails. Malczewski was pronounced dead at the spot, as stated by the OSHP.
At the moment of the collision, there were a total of 160 passengers on board the train. During the time that the wreckage was being lifted, they remained on the train. It was claimed by OSHP that some individuals had sustained minor injuries, but the crew was unhurt.
Cadaver dogs were also used by the authorities to search the whole length of the track, beginning at the point where the train collided with the vehicle on Holloway and ending at the point where it was able to come to a halt near the dead end of Wentworth Avenue, in order to locate any further individuals who may have been injured in the collision. At ten thirty in the morning, the train resumed its journey. In the direction of Chicago, it was traveling from New York.
