I've travelled a lot during the whole pandemic, I had no choice cause of work. However, I've never seen any of this kind of behavior on any flight. All of my flights have been quiet and orderly with nice flight attendants. People keep their masks on and don't shout or fight. Maybe it's because I only travel first class, use the premier check in lines, the lounges and Clear? I avoid Southwest, Spirit, Frontier and any of those "budget" cattle car airlines. I'm flying again in 3 weeks, I'm sure it will be the same experience as always.

Right now you can assault a flight attendant, get kicked off Delta and then walk to the next terminal and catch a flight an American Airlines. Delta said last week a No Fly List without mandatory airline participation is useless. They are talking about the DOT doing nothing despite their multiple requests. Also unmentioned, a lot of Flight Attendants refused to work the holidays because they don't feel like getting the hell beat out of them by unruly passengers.

I remember posts here about how someone dared to go grocery shopping without a mask on etc and people unwilling to leave the house. This only makes sense if she hadn’t, ya know, been unmasked herself and had not spat on or hit the other man. She used the opportunity to pitch a fit. It’s less fighting the good fight than acting like a brat because as a skinny young white chick most men acquiesce to her orders.

It's pretty clear that the masking situation was only something for her to grab onto to have a hissy fit. She's clearly very unstable and needs medical attention. Seeing her previous police records come to light confirms it.

This was an escalating situation caused by her resentment at being asked to sit down while the beverage cart passed. She compared herself to Rosa Parks and the old guy shot back on that one and told her to sit down. It got personal between them and she locked onto the masking issue. She was being an entitled jerk but this is an example where bystanders would do well to just let the FA handle it unless it is a dangerous or violent situation where immediate intervention is required.

Yes, so true. I suspect someone could have deescalated the situation if the old guy would have kept his mouth shut. The woman is clearly mentally ill. I am not sure if she belongs in jail as much as she needs mental health care.

A lot of what Twitter mobs label as “Karen” behavior has to do with mentally ill people having decompensation episodes. This is not to excuse horrible behavior but explains some of it.

There are people who have poor self-control, generally dysregulated when it comes to emotions. They tend to be those who are in trouble with the law or can’t seem to hold long term jobs and relationships. Not all of them have mental health diagnoses. The pandemic put a lot of these people over the edge, but I wouldn’t say the pandemic caused their behavioral issues in public. With my psych paychecks I see more interpersonal problems between their families/ friends/ coworkers and themselves more than anything to do with publicly acting out. I suspect those who do act out in public as this woman did, are those with under-addressed and/ or more severe emotional problems.
