Airing on The WB, 7th Heaven had quite the run, starting in the August 1996. After Three Years Of Auditions, Jessica Biel Finally Get Cast On 7th Heaven

Jessica Biel's Hollywood journey started at a young age, entering a talent agency competition at the age of 11. With the experience, Biel got herself a manager and agent.

However, according to her words with W Magazine, there were no guarantees. Biel went on several auditions and for the first few years, booking a gig was quite the task.

She said, "The competition was in L.A., and afterward I got a manager and an agent. I tried out for a billion things, and after three years, I was cast on the show 7th Heaven."

At that point, Biel wanted to book any gig, though she was happy it happened to be 7th Heaven, given her character description.

"I wanted that part. I wanted any part. And that show was fun. I was a basketball player who was going through all the stuff that a 14-year-old goes through, which is, as you know, completely psychotic."

Although things were extremely positive at that start, things would sour the older Biel got on the series...

Jessica Biel Wanted To Express Herself But Couldn't Given The 7th Heaven Contract Boundaries

With her role as Mary Camden, Jessica Biel felt as though she started to hit a wall along the way, especially creatively, given the limitations of her character.

Speaking alongside E News, Biel revealed to feeling limited. "I think I definitely sort of butted up against those limitations and those boundaries for a multitude of reasons. Because, yeah you know, you can only do so much with a particular character specifically on a show like that."

Her contract was also extremely strict, especially when it came to changing her appearance. Despite the rules, Biel decided to do her own things from time to time. Though the network and showrunner would let her know instantly...

"You get to a point when you're like oh man, I just want to do something different. I just want to cut my hair, and I just want to dye it a different color and I can't do all these things because I have this contract."

Biel did end up cutting her hair, which was frowned upon behind the scenes. Although Biel had to apologize for the moment, she admitted that looking back, there behavior was "like we were angels," compared to what was going on behind the scenes on other shows with teen stars.

Jessica Biel Was Constantly Apologizing To The Higher Ups Behind The Scenes On 7th Heaven

Apologizing became a theme for Jessica Biel. Things would only get more complicated for the show, when the actress decided to take part in a photoshoot alongside Gear Magazine, showing a different and edgier side. Once again, Biel had to apologize and this included an apology to Aaron Spelling.

"I certainly had to apologize to Aaron Spelling. I think my entire crew and cast were, needless to say, shocked," she recalled of the fallout.

"The worst part was I had to go back to work. The thing comes out and literally I had to go back to work that next morning. Everybody was… they didn't know if they should look me in the eye and I was just a mess. I didn't…you're young. You don't mean to hurt people. You don't mean to do this."

Biel revealed that the move wasn't calculated at all, just a part of her youth and wanting to try something different. Cleary, the show wasn't thrilled about it.
