Also I have NEVER been to a Krogers where the entire fire lane isn't taken up with customers parked there. Just because your hillbilly obese husband is sitting IN the car (in the fire lane) doesn't make it legal.

Yes, some are very overweight and get probably tired walking through all the aisles, but most are elderly or have a disability with limited capacity to walk safely unassisted. Don't be bashing people just because they're on a scooter.

No, the Olds use carts as surrogate walkers. Unless they are missing a limb, you rarely see an old using a fattie mover in the grocery.

My mother used one when she had knee surgery but most people I see on them are just grossly obese.

My mother would use the mobility scooter in the supermarket when I took her each week if it were available. She had significant sciatica and lower spine arthritis and could not walk unassisted. She would use the shopping cart if one was not available, but she preferred the scooter.

I was once attacked by a fat loon on a scooter. She backed up and shoved me into an end display of electronics, and continued to accelerate causing my shins to be pressed against the counter base. I sometimes still hear the sound of beeeeep, beeeeep, in my nightmares. Talk about murderous fatty on the lam!

I loath these contraptions, if you think a supermarket is bad try visiting a theme park full of land whales riding them. All you hear is that infernal backup beeping constantly and they clog up walkways making it difficult to maneuver around.

The scooters are annoying and gargantuan.

However obese their riders, some of the people do have a genuine disability.

In the U.S., I only saw these in 'People of Walmart' videos (always fatties) and a few people (not fatties) with some obvious mobility/frailty issue.

OP here. I'm more frustrated with how these carts are designed. That obnoxious semi truck backing up alert horn is ridiculous. How about a pleasant "ding" sound or something? I'm convinced at this point they're deliberately backing up for attention.

I know someone who uses one because they have Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. They're also quite large but the syndrome makes it difficult to exercise and they take pain meds. They hate it. They have other conditions linked to EDS.
