6 Netflix Announced A 'Bridgerton' Spinoff About A Young Queen Charlotte
Fans of the period drama Bridgerton were thrilled to hear that a spinoff is in the making. In the announcement of the spinoff, the head of global TV of Netflix Bela Bajaria said the following:

"Many viewers had never known the story of Queen Charlotte before Bridgerton brought her to the world, and I’m thrilled this new series will further expand her story and the world of Bridgerton."
As mentioned, the show will revolve around a young Queen Charlotte, and it will give viewers a glimpse into how she became the Queen everyone got to know in Bridgerton.
5 'Bridgerton' Is Based On Julia Quinn’s Best-Selling Set Of Novels
Those who watched Bridgerton surely know that the series is based on books. The author of the novels is Julia Quinn and her Bridgerton book series consists of the books The Duke and I (2000), The Viscount Who Loved Me (2000), An Offer From a Gentleman (2001), Romancing Mister Bridgerton (2002), To Sir Phillip, With Love (2003), When He Was Wicked (2004), It's In His Kiss (2005), On the Way to the Wedding (2006), and The Bridgertons: Happily Ever After (2013). Just like the show, the books are also set in the world of Regency-era London, and they follow a multitude of characters. The showmakers have revealed that season two is set to be based on the second book in the series, and they hope Bridgerton will run for a total of eight seasons — one for each book!
4 The Spinoff Is Not Based On A Book And Will Be Written By Shonda Rhimes
Bridgerton is based on a book series, but its upcoming spinoff is not. Netflix’s Bela Bajaria said in a statement Friday revealed this about the show:
"Shonda and her team are thoughtfully building out the Bridgerton universe, so they can keep delivering for the fans with the same quality and style they love. And by planning and prepping all the upcoming seasons now, we also hope to keep up a pace that will keep even the most insatiable viewers totally fulfilled."

Shonda Rhimes, creator of Bridgerton, shared this in a statement: "As we continue to expand the world of Bridgerton, we now have the opportunity to devote even more of the Shondaland fold to the Bridgerton-verse."
The famous producer didn't work as a writer on season one of Bridgerton, however, she will be the name behind the writing of the spinoff show.
3 The Show's Cast Members Are Still Unknown
While everyone is certainly excited to find out who the cast of the upcoming spinoff will include — so far no one has been named yet. Since the show will go back in time and show Queen Charlotte's youth, it's still unclear whether Golda Rossiuvel who plays her in Bridgerton will appear in the spinoff. Either way, there is no doubt that the showmakers will cast talented actors just like they did with the original show.
2 While A Release Date Hasn't Been Announced, Fans Are Hoping For Early 2023
As of writing, no official release date has been announced for the spinoff show yet. However, production of the show should currently be underway which means that filming is expected to start at the end of this spring. While saying exactly when the show could hit the streaming service is impossible, fans are hopeful that they will be able to binge the spinoff sometime in early 2023.
1 Season Two Of 'Bridgerton' Is Set To Premiere On March 25, 2022
Lastly, while fans wait for the new show to premiere, at least they get to enjoy season two of Bridgerton. Viewers across the globe have been waiting for it since season one premiered back in December 2020 and there is no doubt that many will binge the show in a couple of days.
Season two of the show will revolve around a new female lead, Kate Sharma — but that doesn't mean that fans won't get to see some of their beloved characters again. Jonathan Bailey, Phoebe Dynevor, Golda Rosheuvel, Nicola Coughlan, and more will come back to the show. However, one of the stars of Bridgerton, Regé-Jean Page won't be returning for season two — and everyone is intrigued to see how the show does without him.
