I can't help having some sympathy for her but I also certainly can't deny she comes off as a narcissist of the first order.

When she was young, she was a major attention seeker. She presented herself as a self-destructive rebellious femme fatale, and that worked with her roles in Gia, Hackers and Girl, Interrupted. She dressed like a goth, she wore blood in a vial around her neck, talked about collecting knives, etc. And this was in the late 90s/early 00s, so heroin certainly falls neatly into that whole persona.

The sympathy I have is that she was allegedly *bred* by her father for beauty, with him having impregnated a woman he found beautiful with the intention of raising beautiful movie-star children. That is INSANE. It's a dystopian psychological thriller plot/background all of its own. It might be easy to shrug that off (if true) by saying she's been an adult for a long time yada yada, but can you imagine if your entire young life from birth through adulthood, your father saw you as his beautiful engineered Hollywood livestock spawn and he expected you to be a model and a movie star because of your face and body? Is the accusation credible? No way of knowing, but given how she rejected and publicly humiliated her father and given how she publicly performed self-harm as a young person, honestly, I can't not believe it.

Of course, abused people become abusers, and once they have entered the part of the cycle where they start harming others, the sympathy has to be cut off. But her whole life seems to be some twisted Hollywood shit worthy of the Sunset Blvd treatment.

I can't imagine Brad wants a public trial like Depp; Hollywood made it clear they were on his side the moment they divorced and handed him an Oscar just for being Brad Pitt, and there's little to no public knowledge of, let alone outcry over, his family problems. He's always been very discreet and wouldn't want to jeopardize his upper hand.

Johnny Depp was similarly beautiful when young but he never attained the heights Brad Pitt has. Pitt got into producing many years ago and that's where the industry power comes from. Actors command money and favorable treatment when they rise meteorically but they are never taken seriously by the suits with the real power unless they become suits.
