Pretty simple. One is written elegantly, one is written...reasonably. Maybe one of Nolan's least heavy-handed, so it's good fun, but Interstellar really could've used a decent editing job to cut it down to size.

Social Network was more crisp, sharp, and smooth. Interstellar might be more impressive but it's less enjoyable.

The Social Network might be the best movie of the 21st century. Beautifully written, multilayered, emotionally resonant, technically slick and crisp, etc. Everything in this film is given the right attention to detail to develop the characters, themes, messages, etc. that the story is trying to show. It's a tragedy between how ambition and jealousy can tear apart friendship. But it's also about change. People who change the world but not themselves, or people who change themselves to fit in the new world. Great stuff. Interstellar, on the other hand, gets worse on literally every viewing
