As is the case with all genres, it would be silly to try and narrowly define rap music. Despite that, there is no denying the fact that a lot of the rap songs that make it to the top of the charts reveal very little about the private lives of their performers. On the other hand, from the beginning of Eminem’s career, the talented rapper has notably written lyrics about the drama in his private life.

In an ideal world, everyone who gets divorced would be able to walk away from their relationship having learned a lot about themselves and with respect for their ex-partner. In reality, however, far too many divorced couples harbor a staggering amount of anger and even hatred for one another. Unfortunately for Eminem and his ex-wife Kim, at one time it was very clear that he felt a huge amount of rage for her.

In the years 1999 and 2000, Eminem released “The Slim Shady LP” and “The Marshall Mathers LP” and both albums would go on to become massive hits. When most people think about those albums, they are likely to remember hit singles like “My Name Is”, "The Real Slim Shady", "The Way I Am", "Stan", and "I'm Back". However, big Eminem fans will likely be able to tell you that both albums have some pretty great tunes that were never released as singles. On the other hand, “The Slim Shady LP” and “The Marshall Mathers LP” also feature a pair of pretty revolting songs.

During the song “'97 Bonnie & Clyde”, Eminem talks to his daughter as the pair drive to the sea to dump her mother and his ex-wife’s body in the water. Then there is the song “Kim”, in which Eminem rages about his ex-wife cheating on him and then violently takes her life. Based on those two songs alone, it is very clear that at one time Eminem had a lot of hate in his heart for his ex-wife Kim.

Kim’s Struggles

Even though Kimberly Anne Scott has never been a celebrity, a lot of information about Eminem’s ex-wife Kim is out there. For example, at one time Kim revealed that she had a rough childhood. Sadly, Kim’s biological father was out of the picture and her family was forced to move constantly likely because her step-father at that time was an alcoholic.

Unfortunately, Kimberly Scott went on to struggle quite a bit as an adult. Most notably, Kim has admitted that she once tried to take her own life by intentionally driving her car into a telephone pole after consuming pills and alcohol. Anyone who has similar thoughts should reach out to a suicide prevention hotline for help. Kim also developed an addiction to illegal substances that resulted in her having multiple run-ins with the law. Worse yet, Kim’s twin sister Dawn suffered from similar issues and she eventually lost her life to an overdose.

After several years of personal struggles, Kimberly Scott managed to clean herself up which is wonderful. Since then, Kim has turned her life around as she has become a devoted mother and she even wrote and released a children’s book titled “Mommy! There's a Snot Man Standing Next to You!”.

How Things Change

Given how angry Eminem once was at his ex-wife and all of the struggles that she went through, it would be a small miracle if the former partners could be civil for their kids. However, based on all of the publically available information, Eminem and his ex-wife Kimberly Scott are on extremely good terms these days.

For proof of the fact that Eminem and Kimberly Scott get along well, all you have to do is look at a statement his representatives put out after rumors of rekindled romance started to surface. After squashing the idea that Eminem and Kim were becoming a couple again, the statement clearly defined their current relationship. “They are a divorced couple who share custody of their daughter and maintain a friendly relationship.”

For her part, Kimberly Scott has also made it clear that she and Eminem get along. After all, in the past, Kim has said that she and Eminem have become friends, and they treat one another with respect to provide a healthy situation for their daughters. “We’re just trying to raise our kids together and make it as normal for them as possible.”

Finally, the ultimate piece of evidence that Eminem cares deeply about his ex-wife and wants her to be happy is his song “Bad Husband”. Included as a part of Eminem’s 2017 album “Revival”, in the song “Bad Husband” Eminem apologizes to his ex-wife Kim and their daughters and takes full responsibility for his past actions. Considering how much Eminem delighted in lyrically ripping apart Kim in the past, “Bad Husband” is perfect evidence of how much the ex-couple’s relationship has grown.
