Miranda Kerr, who is one of the famous names and faces in the world of fashion, embarked on her modeling career during her early teens. But what was she doing before becoming a star?
Her Life Before Modeling
Miranda Kerr, the daughter of Therese and John Kerr, was born on April 20, 1983 in Sydney, Australia, and was raised then in Gunnedah, New South Wales. Before becoming a model, she spent most of her childhood outdoors climbing trees, swimming in the rover, and riding bikes and horses. She revealed that living in a small town made her feel the “real sense of community where everyone knew everyone and it felt like one big, extended family.”
The town girl also recalled a moment she spent with her loved ones. She shared, “I remember spending time with my cousins – because I was the eldest, I was always little Mum – building cubby houses, driving cars and riding horses in the paddocks, and having family get-togethers.” Her life was plain and simple, as far away from the fashion world as one could imagine.
Her Life Changed A Lot
As soon as she became a teenager, Miranda landed her first gig after winning the 1997 annual Dolly Magazine model competition. At the age of 13, the announcement came as a surprise for her but soon realized that she can continue becoming a model without it interfering too much with her study. When she was 16, she and her family relocated from Gunnedah to Brisbane, where she completed the last two years of high school.
She entered into modeling and signed a contract with the Australian clothing company, Billabong, and received her big break when a series of advertisements in which she wore different surf beachwear caught people’s attention. She capitalized on that opportunity to move to New York and took a whole new level in her modeling career.

Despite embodying a picture-perfect image, the supermodel revealed that her life wasn’t always that way. She said in a magazine issue of Cosmopolitan, “There was so much rejection in the beginning. Models are some of the most insecure people I’ve ever met. They’re constantly being told they’re not good enough. You’ve really got to practice loving yourself.”
Given her choice of career, Miranda’s life clearly has changed a lot since then. With a lot of things happening in her life, she remained a positive thinker. The model believed that “no matter what the problem is, there’s a solution.” She also said that she won’t take no for an answer, providing that there’s a way she can make it work. No wonder she made things work for her as she made it to superstardom.
Her Life To Superstardom
As an adult, Miranda appeared in various magazine covers and worked with popular brands including, PINK, XOXO, H&M, Clinique, Reebook, and Wonderbra among others. She also walked for some of the prominent designers including Chanel, Dior, Lanvin, Stella McCartney, John Galliano, Victor & Rolf, and Loewe.

Aside from that, Miranda was beyond blessed when she gained one of the most coveted titles ever in the world of fashion and modeling – becoming Victoria’s Secret Angel. She was the first Australian model to sign a deal with that well-known company and began her tenure there in 2006. Soon enough, she cemented herself as one of the richest models.
However, when the beauty didn’t walk the runway for Victoria’s Secret in 2013, many were scratching their heads and were surprised. Asked about the reason behind this, she blamed her hectic schedule. She revealed, “They asked me to walk in the show, and I really wanted to, but I have to be in Asia that week.” Soon after, Miranda didn’t appear anymore in the company’s runway shows.
