Netflix's hit show Love On The Spectrum US chronicles the lives of 7 individuals with autism diagnoses as they navigate the dating world. Not only does the show focus on the dating journeys of its participants, but it offers the audience a glimpse into the day-to-day lives of its subjects, shortening the gap between the viewers and film that allows insight into who these individuals truly are.

While we see, from a third party perspective, what these individuals are like, TheThings spoke with Kaelynn Partlow to understand more about who she is and what she hopes to accomplish with her newfound platform.

Kaelynn On What Viewers May Have Missed

The struggle with producing a limited series is the inability to capture the entirety of each participant's lifestyle. The snippets of at-home interactions or meetings with families allow for an idea of what the daily routines might be for the individuals, but watching at home on the couch, we don't necessarily get the full picture. So, we asked Kaelynn: what's something viewers might not know about you solely based on the show?

"I love to travel, do competition obedience with my Labrador, Finnegan, and I'm a good writer."

Now, I'm sat here thinking about Kaelynn appearing on a 2022 reboot of Christpher Guest's Best In Show.

Many individuals with creative minds, such as myself and Kaelynn, turn to writing as an outlet, hoping to express their opinions from the voice of fictional characters or, perhaps, a different, more eloquent version of themselves. Kaelynn tells us,

"I enjoy writing autism advocacy pieces because, despite my dyslexia, I express myself better in writing than I do verbally."

A sentiment I'm sure many writers carry - their ability to more clearly and concisely express themselves via written word.

Kaelynn Tells Us More About Project Hope

Although not all of Kaelynn's hobbies and activities were shared on the show, she was able to tell the world about Project HOPE, a global health and humanitarian non-governmental organization (NGO) that aims to ensure sustainable change as it pertains to healthcare - or lack thereof.

Kaelynn shared that she, once a student, is now a behavioral therapist at Project HOPE. We wanted to know more about Kaelynn's connection to the organization.

"Project HOPE is so special to me! They have been extremely supportive of my journey...Project Hope is an incredible organization and I wish everyone had a school or work environment as accommodating as they are."

Despite the organization's world-wide reach, Project HOPE is still continuing its outreach, branching into households that may have previously been unaware of its mission. Kaelynn, alongside the other employees at the foundation, has used her platform to continue to spread awareness.

"I have talked a lot about Project Hope Foundation in several interviews and I frequently talk about my work there in videos on my social media. A local news station visited my work location and conducted an interview and filmed me working with a client."

What's Next For Kaelynn Partlow?

Since Love On The Spectrum US's airing, Kaelynn's social media following on Instagram has amassed to over 127,000 followers. With those numbers continuing to climb, we asked Kaelynn what her next steps are.

"I couldn't know for sure, but I am hoping to pursue more formal autism advocacy efforts in the form of public speaking. I am hoping to continue showing my dog and making progress in that area."

Suffice it to say, I think the majority of young adults echo Kaelynn's sentiment of not knowing what comes next. But keeping goals like training Finn for the big leagues - perhaps Cruffs - helps us move forward.

As for her love life journey, would Kaelynn consider continuing her journey on our screens were Love On the Spectrum US to ask about a second season?

"I would be honored to participate in another season! Despite my inclination to be pessimistic, I know that this part of my journey isn't over yet. The right guy for me is out there somewhere, it's just a matter of finding him!"

Well, Kaelynn, we can tell you one thing for sure: us Love On The Spectrum viewers would be equally honored to watch you on our screens again. Nonetheless, we'll be following your journey via socials, waiting eagerly for that Prince Charming reveal.
