Draw Something has been met with huge success garnering itself over 1,000,000 downloads, but Zynga isn’t looking to stop there. The company is working on a sequel, Draw Something 2, which was unveiled by a tweet sent out by Ryan Seacrest on Monday.
His tweet said, “I somehow convinced them to give me #DrawSomething2 first… this may be the best Mariah & Randy have ever looked.” At the bottom of the tweet was an image containing a very well done drawing of two very well known American Idol judges, Randy Jackson and Mariah Carey.
Not long after Ryan Seacrest’s tweet, Dan Porter, VP of Zynga, sent out a tweet with the logo for Draw Something 2 and officially confirming the game’s existence saying, “Thanks! So excited to confirm #DrawSomething2 is coming w/ new ways to draw & connect.”
There’s only one problem: risk. Draw Something 2 could succeed, or it could be like some of Zynga’s other games. The company tends to make sequels of its most popular games and sometimes that strategy does well. Farmville is evident of that. Cityville was another game that was pretty popular and it got a sequel, Cityville 2, which flopped and was shut down. Hopefully Draw Something 2 isn’t met with the same fate.
Let’s hope that Zynga will be able to reel in all of their lost players with Draw Something 2, and keep them this time.
