Charles Barton Obituary, Death Cause – Charles Edward Barton, a beloved resident of Horse Cave, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the age of 76. Born and raised in Barren County, he was the son of the late Romie Lee Barton and Creola Christy Barton. Charles served his country with honor as a U.S. Army veteran during the Vietnam Era, demonstrating his commitment to duty and sacrifice.A retired roofer, Charles had a strong work ethic that defined his professional life.
His dedication and hard work left a lasting impact on those he w orked with and the community he called home. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Charles was a loving family man. Survived by his devoted wife, Rita Young Barton, Charles leaves behind a legacy of love and memories. He is fondly remembered by his two daughters, Rhonda Barton Taylor (Ronnie) of Cave City and Kimberly Barton Bowles of Glasgow. His grandchildren, including Charles L. Bryant, Damon J. Bryant, Jonathan J. Bryant, Harley S. Holmes, Angela Storm, Megan Bowles, and Kelsey Bowles, will cherish the moments they shared with their beloved grandfather.
Charles is also survived by two sisters, Nelda Matthews (Leland) of Alvaton and Glenda Wilson of Georgia, as well as two brothers, Donald Barton of Glasgow and James Barton of Columbia. His extended family includes ten great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly. The community mourns the loss of a dedicated individual, a veteran, and a family man. Charles Edward Barton’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
