Blaine's Quiz Show (Japanese: カツラのクイズショー Katsura's Quiz Show) is a Supporter card. It is part of the Unified Minds expansion.
Card text
| Put a Pokémon from your hand face down in front of you and tell your opponent the name of an attack it has. Your opponent guesses the name of that Pokémon, and then you reveal it. If your opponent guessed right, they draw 4 cards. If they guessed wrong, you draw 4 cards. Return the Pokémon to your hand. | |
| You may play only 1 Supporter card during your turn (before your attack). | |
Release information
This card was included in the Unified Minds expansion, first released as one of the Japanese SM-P Promotional cards. In Japan, it was 1 of 7 possible cards available in promotional packs awarded to participants of Pokémon Card Gym tournaments during March, April, and May 2019. This print features the Pokémon Card Gym logo.
Trivia
- This card has a similar effect to Blaine's Quiz #3 from Gym Challenge.
- Blaine's Quiz Show cannot be used with a Pokémon card that has no attacks. [1]
- If the Pokémon card used for this effect is a TAG TEAM card, the opponent's guess is considered correct even if the Pokémon names are in the incorrect order. For example, if the face down card is Celebi & Venusaur-GX, then both Celebi & Venusaur-GX and Venusaur & Celebi-GX are correct answers. [2]
- Due to the confusion this card may cause at multilingual tournaments, Play! Pokémon announced it would be banned from play at the 2019 Pokémon World Championships.
Origin
Blaine is a Gym Leader in Kanto. In Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!, the Cinnabar Gym, featured in the illustration, is outfitted to resemble a gameshow studio where the player is presented with 5 questions.
