Many celebrities choose a vegan or vegetarian diet because of their stance against eating meat or because they believe a plant-based diet is better for their health. While many stars forgo meat for good, some include fish in their vegetarian diets for added health benefits.

Pescatarians don't eat meat, but they do eat fish. These celebrities chose to go meatless but became pescatarians to add protein and healthy fats into their diets. They eat salmon, tuna, and even sardines, which are all high in omega-3s and very good for your heart, brain, and circulation. Cutting out red meat and becoming a pescatarian worked out great for the stars listed below.

10 Cam Newton

New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton is just one of many athletes that went pescatarian, avoiding red meat and eating shrimp, and other fish. He has been a pescatarian for quite some time, but this year, he's gone fully vegan, crediting his newly plant-based diet for a boost in his health.

According to the football star, the shift to becoming a vegan has helped him recover after a shoulder injury in 2018. "I've seen a remarkable change in the way my body responds to the food I eat." He also shared in a video blog, "When you look at gorillas, when you look at elephants, they find their course of protein in plants and I do the same thing. I'm loving how I'm feeling."

9 Olivia Wilde

Actress Olivia Wilde ditched her vegan diet to become a pescatarian, stating in a 2014 interview that it changed the way she looked at dieting. "Fear of carbs, of gluten, of everything - we've distanced ourselves from the beauty of food, the art of it," Wilde shared with Allure magazine. "It makes me sad when people say, 'Oh, I don't eat gluten. I don't eat cheese. I don't eat this. So I eat cardboard."

Even though the star no longer keeps up with the celeb trend of becoming a vegan, she still maintains a healthy outlook at eating by eating fish, which is an excellent source of B-complex vitamins, vitamin A and vitamin D.

8 A$AP Rocky

In 2012, A$AP Rocky told Complex that he decided to become a pescatarian after learning about the brutal ways animals are slaughtered for their meat. "I don't eat meat, so people don't like to celebrate Thanksgiving with me. They can't enjoy it. Most people in my family, they mix meat in everything that they cook. So it's just pretty annoying," the rapper shared.

A$AP Rocky was so upset about the torture process of animals, especially the poultry industry that he eventually became a vegetarian and seems fully committed to never eating meat.

Common hasn't eaten meat since the '90s and told JustJared back in 2009 that he has been feeling much healthier with a pescatarian diet. "I just decided to be more aware of my health and well-being," the "Glory" singer shared, adding, "I felt that beef and pork wasn't good."

The star, who is dating actress Tiffany Haddish, used to practice a vegan diet, but now mainly enjoys fish and vegetables. He also makes sure to work out five days a week with high-intensity workouts.

Raven Goodwin is best known for starring in the drama series Being Mary Jane and has shared that she is a fan of the pescatarian diet and that it has helped her become vegan. However, she confessed that if being a vegan doesn't work out for her, she'll gladly go back to eating fish.

Steve Jobs was told by doctors and his family to consume more protein when he was diagnosed with a rare form of pancreatic cancer in 2003. According to Owaves, Jobs developed a love for eating sushi including fatty tuna, salmon, and yellowtail, and also ate eggs some that he can consume more protein.

Before his diagnosis, Jobs considered himself a fruitarian, a subset of veganism, and would only eat foods like apples and carrots for weeks at a time.

4 Ben Stiller

During an interview with Conan O'Brien, actor Ben Stiller spilled the details about his diet and how he was improving his lifestyle. The Meet the Fockers star shared that not only had he decided to let go of coffee, he became vegan, too. However, he mentioned that he'd eat fish here and there, which technically makes the actor a pescatarian.

While Stiller expressed that sticking to not eating meat can be hard, his wife, Christine Taylor explained that letting go of meat has improved her life. "It really changed our energy level. Sometimes you don't realize it until someone says it to you, like, 'your skin looks amazing," she shared.

3 Victoria Beckham

Victoria Beckham always looks her best and that's because she follows a Five Hands Diet, according to The Daily Mail. The diet consists of just five handfuls of food a day, and Beckham reportedly snacks on small portions of smoked salmon, prawns with chili, yellow-fin tuna, and scrambled eggs.

The former Spice Girl went on a specific diet to lose the baby weight she gained when she was pregnant with her daughter, Harper. "Five days after birth, she started eating five high-protein meals a day accompanied by green vegetables, drinking gallons of water, and only snacking on goji berries and nuts," a source told Grazia magazine.

2 Howard Stern

In 2012, while speaking with Grub Street, radio personality Howard Stern revealed that he and his wife gave up meat and became pescatarian. "We recently became pescatarians, which means the only protein we're getting is from seafood these days... we just learned the word pescatarian," he shared, adding that it "it felt really funny eating turkey and chicken... we stopped that completely." Stern also shared that he loves snacking on cashews and his favorite restaurant is Nobu, which serves mainly fish and seafood dishes.

1 Kaley Cuoco

The Big Bang actress Kaley Cuoco follows a pescatarian diet, telling Women's Health magazine in 2016 that she was "done" with eating meat, though she does eat fish. In her interview, she broke down what she eats in a day, sharing that for breakfast, she'll have peanut butter on toast, for lunch, she'll chow down on half a sandwich, and for dinner, the star will usually eat fish and vegetables.

Her former co-star on The Big Bang Theory and ex-boyfriend Johnny Galecki is also a pescatarian.
